Full Review

The message of Eats, Shoots & Leaves is impressive. How many adults, who are not English majors, will immediately note that the comma in the title converts the two nouns, “shoots” and “leaves”, into verbs? The youngest readers of the suggested range (4-8 years) for this book is much too low: few four year-olds are going to appreciate it, unless they are already writing sentences with more than one phrase or clause.

The rather crude water color illustrations of each pair portray the meaning of the correct and incorrect sentences.
